25 iconic characters from all three trilogies and The Mandalorian on one spinning wheel. May the random pick be with you. Or against you, depending on which side of the Force you land on.
The Force divides every character on this wheel into one of two camps. Roughly. Some characters have complicated feelings about which side they are on.
Spin twice, get two characters, argue for the next 45 minutes. Grogu vs General Grievous. C-3PO vs Emperor Palpatine. Every combination is a new argument waiting to happen.
🎃
Costume Picker
Can't decide who to dress up as for Halloween, a convention, or a themed party? Spin and commit. The wheel said General Grievous. Time to build four arms.
🧠
Star Wars Trivia
Spin to pick a character, fire off trivia questions about that character. What is their homeworld? Who trained them? What is their lightsaber color? Works for all levels of Star Wars knowledge.
🎮
Gaming Character Assignments
Playing a Star Wars game and want a random character assignment? Spin the wheel. Accepting whatever you land on makes the game genuinely more interesting than always picking the same character.
📺
Watch Order Decider
Spin to decide which Star Wars film to watch tonight. Or spin to pick a character and then watch every movie and show they appear in, in order. Ahsoka is a long journey but absolutely worth it.
✍️
Fan Fiction Prompts
Spin twice to get two characters, then write a fan fiction story about their unexpected team-up or rivalry. R2-D2 and General Grievous stuck in an elevator is genuinely unexplored territory.
The Star Wars Canon Timeline
Star Wars uses BBY (Before Battle of Yavin) and ABY (After Battle of Yavin) as its in-universe calendar. The Battle of Yavin is the Death Star destruction at the end of Episode IV. Here is where every major story fits in chronological order.

The Major Factions of Star Wars
The conflict in Star Wars is always a version of the same question: who controls the galaxy and who decides what counts as order? Here are the major factions across all eras, and where each one stands in the Force alignment.
The Jedi Order
Light Side · Guardians of Peace
The monastic Force-wielding peacekeepers of the Republic. At their peak, thousands of Jedi served across the galaxy. Order 66 (Revenge of the Sith) wiped out nearly all of them in a single day. A handful of survivors carried the knowledge forward.
Ancient Force-wielding order that embraces the dark side. After thousands of years of war with the Jedi, the Sith adopted the "Rule of Two": one master, one apprentice, always. This is why Palpatine and Vader are the only Sith at the time of the original trilogy.
Replaced the Republic after Palpatine's "emergency powers" became permanent rule. Ruled through fear, the Death Star, and systematic oppression. Fell at the Battle of Endor (Return of the Jedi) but fractured remnants persisted for years after.
The insurgent force that fought the Empire from its shadows and eventually destroyed two Death Stars. Became the New Republic after victory at Endor. Princess Leia is arguably the most important strategic leader the Alliance had, even above any of the generals.
Not a Force faction, but a warrior culture with a code (the Creed) and armor that is deeply entrenched in Star Wars lore. Mandalorian beskar steel is one of the few materials that can resist lightsabers. Din Djarin and Boba Fett are the two most prominent Mandalorian characters in the Disney era.

The First Order
Dark Side · Imperial Successors
Rose from Imperial remnants in the Unknown Regions after Endor. Better organized and more fanatical than the Empire. Introduced Starkiller Base (bigger than Death Star) and operated with fewer officers but more ideologically committed troops than its predecessor.
The "who would win" debate in Star Wars always comes back to Force ability. Here are the strongest canon Force users ranked, based on feats demonstrated in the films and Disney+ series. This ranking exists to cause arguments and it will succeed.
1
Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious)
The most powerful Sith Lord in recorded history. Manipulated an entire galaxy undetected for decades. Force lightning at planetary scale. In Rise of Skywalker, casually destroyed a fleet of capital ships from the ground. Even death could not stop him. The canonical answer to "who is strongest" is almost always Palpatine.
2
Yoda
Trained Jedi for 800 years. Held his own against Palpatine in their duel in Revenge of the Sith, which is extraordinary given that no other Jedi could survive that encounter. Force ghost mastery after death. His midi-chlorian count was said to be among the highest ever measured.
3
Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader
The "chosen one." Highest midi-chlorian count in known Star Wars history (over 20,000, higher than Yoda). As Vader, his power was suppressed by his suit and the injuries from Mustafar. What Anakin could have become at full potential is the great "what if" of Star Wars.
4
Luke Skywalker
Peak Luke (The Last Jedi) projected himself across the entire galaxy simultaneously and held the projection with enough detail to fool everyone present. That Force feat alone puts him at this tier regardless of what you thought of the sequel trilogy.
5
Rey
Granddaughter of Palpatine with inherited raw power. Absorbed the Force dyad power from Kylo Ren before channeling all Jedi who came before her to stop Palpatine. Her power ceiling is debated because the sequel trilogy did not develop it as methodically as earlier characters.
6
Mace Windu
The only Jedi who actually defeated Palpatine in direct combat (Revenge of the Sith). He had Palpatine completely beaten until Anakin intervened. Creator of Vaapad, the most aggressive lightsaber combat form, which channels the user's own darkness as a strength instead of a weakness.
These rankings reflect Disney canon as of 2025. Legends continuity contains additional powerful characters (like Galen Marek / Starkiller from the Force Unleashed games) who would rank differently in their own continuity.
Star Wars Characters Wheel FAQ
Which 25 characters are on this wheel?
Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Lando Calrissian, Anakin Skywalker, Padmé Amidala, Qui-Gon Jinn, Mace Windu, Count Dooku, General Grievous, Ahsoka Tano, Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, Din Djarin, and Grogu.
Why is Darth Maul not on this wheel?
The wheel covers 25 of the most recognizable characters and Darth Maul did not make the final cut. To add him, click Launch Full Wheel and type Darth Maul into the editor. You can also add Grand Admiral Thrawn, Hera Syndulla, Asajj Ventress, or anyone else from the full Star Wars canon.
Is Darth Vader or Anakin Skywalker on this wheel?
Both. Anakin Skywalker is the prequel-era character before he put on the suit. Darth Vader is the full armored villain of the original trilogy. They are the same person at different life stages, and both versions are iconic enough to have their own slot on the wheel.
Is Grogu actually Baby Yoda?
Grogu is his official name, revealed in season 2 of The Mandalorian. He is 50 years old despite looking like a baby, because his species ages extremely slowly. Yoda lived to 900. Grogu is technically the same species but is not Yoda as a baby. The "Baby Yoda" nickname stuck anyway because the internet decided so.
Can I make a light side only or dark side only wheel?
Yes. Click Launch Full Wheel and delete the characters from the side you do not want. Keep only the 16 light side characters for a heroes wheel, or keep only the dark side characters for a villains bracket. The editor updates instantly.
